Description
BiotinMAX CONCENTRATE is a biotin supplement designed for horses with poor hoof quality.
What is the mechanism of action of BiotinMAX CONCENTRATE
Biotin is a B vitamin that is required by the horse for a variety of functions, including carbohydrate, fat, and protein metabolism, cell proliferation, normal thyroid and adrenal gland function, reproductive tract health, and nervous system stability. Biotin contains sulphur, an element necessary for the formation of reinforcing bonds between collagen strands, and thus contributes to the health of the skin and hooves.
BiotinMAX CONCENTRATE contains biotin at concentrations associated with increased hoof strength and integrity as demonstrated by scientific studies. Researchers discovered that horses with poor quality hoof horn had normal blood biotin levels, indicating that unhealthy hooves are not the result of a deficiency. Despite normal blood levels, horses responded to oral megadoses of biotin.
According to research, supplementing with 20mg of biotin daily for at least nine months reduced the incidence of hoof cracks, reduced hoof horn crumbling, and increased tensile strength.
Bear in mind that you can only attempt to improve growth from the coronary band down, and BiotinMAX CONCENTRATE will aid in the development of the new hoof horn, not the existing hoof.
Features & Advantages
Assists horses with substandard hooves.
Aids in the development of strong, healthy hooves.
Contributes to the improvement of cracked, brittle, or weak hooves.
Assists horses in recovery from seedy toe and laminitis.
Use instructions
BiotinMAX CONCENTRATE should be added to your horse's feed in the following manner
10g daily for horses (500kg)
5g daily for ponies (300kg)
For the treatment of acute hoof damage/recovery from laminitis
20g daily for horses or 10g daily for ponies
Please note daily supplementation is recommended for at least six to nine months. If an improvement in hoof quality occurs, it is recommended that such levels of biotin be maintained indefinitely to minimise the risk of hoof deterioration.
